PILOT TESTS, DELIVERY OF RECYCLING AND FLOTATION - PPF Partner in Pet Food

Propesko is a traditional Czech brand of pet food. It is part of the PPF Group, a leading European pet food manufacturer based in Hungary. There are being produced canned products and meat pouches for dogs and cats in the plant in Veselí nad Lužnicí (Czech Republic).

The capacity of the water supply pipeline to the company's premises was not sufficient. That is why the client approached us with the requirement to find wastewater in the plant that could be recycled.

This would ensure sufficient water and at the same time, the company would find savings in water management in the production process, which must follow the same hygiene standards as in the production of products for humans.

Another requirement was to improve the level of pre-treatment of the wastewater that the company discharges to the municipal wastewater treatment plant so that it meets the effluent parameters of the sewerage regulations.

WASTEWATER RECYCLING

Wastewater from the autoclaves was chosen for recycling by our technologists in which the meat pouches are sterilized. There, the water can only become contaminated if one of the pouches bursts and the water is contaminated during sterilization, and the contamination is not so enormous. The ceramic membrane microfiltration AMAYA was proposed as the optimal technology. The pilot tests with the proposed technology have been going on for several months at PPF and they proved the suitability of the recommended technology. Subsequently, AMAYA technology with an output of 6 m3/hour was delivered and put into operation. The quality of recycled water meets the requirements for reuse in autoclaves. Thanks to recycling, PPF saves up to 3000 m3 of water per month.

WASTEWATER TREATMENT

For the pre-treatment of wastewater from the food industry, was installed the DAF flotation unit with an output of 40 m3/h. The complete turnkey delivery included the equipping of the pumping tanks, flocculation, chemical management, and electrical installation.

The pre-treated water already meets all the required parameters and can be discharged to the municipal wastewater treatment plant without penalty charges.
